Ruby on Rails in Russia

Ruby on Rails finally starts gaining acceptance in Russia. There’s not many commercial projects around, but the core community is already there and it grows everyday. I see people explain to their customers that Rails will do the job, instead of PHP or Java, and they succeed!

There’s a lot of sceptical opinions about Ruby from Java, PHP and Perl communities. That makes me sad. I always try to explain to people the many benefits of Ruby on Rails.

I made a next step in that direction recently, and translated Curt Hibbs’ wonderful article What is Ruby on Rails? to Russian.

You can find the article on my Russian blog, called Productive Programming and the article itself by following this link: What is Ruby on Rails? [translated]. There’s also another announcement on Curt Hibbs’ blog.

If you can read Russian, please give it a try. Maybe you’ll find it useful. Maybe it will help you or your friend to learn Rails. Either way will make me happy, as that was my primary goal. I want to help Rails spread worldwide.
